About me

Hello! My name is Elena Antongirolami and I am a classical cellist from Italy. My career involves both performing and teaching.

There are three main fundamental aspects of my artistic activity, all equally important for my professional and human growth: playing in chamber music ensembles, working as an orchestra musician and giving concerts for cello solo. Indeed, I would like to mention my long-standing experience in playing in duo with the piano, which recently led me to publish my first CD (Rossiniana. Themes, Variations and Fantasias - Dynamic/Naxos 2020), and my cooperation as an orchestra musician with FORM - Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, with whom I regularly play since 2016.
In the past years I also started to contribute to set up theatrical performances for the Aletheia acting group, taking care of the musical aspects - which involve musical research and adaptation, and live cello performances.

I am also active in education and teaching. I have a master in Violoncello, a master in Chamber Music and I attended many courses and masterclasses with famous cellists and musicians from all over the world. I recently won the public exam in Italy for teaching cello in national public schools (Scuole Medie a Indirizzo Musicale, Licei Musicali), where I now work as cello professor.

Live session

On October 4, 2023 I took part of an episode of Diario di Bordo, an established YouTube format about music and musicians, directed by the recording studio L'Astronave. In duo with Alessandro Menichelli, pianist, we recorded a live session with a preview of our new project about Debussy and De Falla.
