About me

My name is Elena Antongirolami, and I am an Italian cellist with a dual focus on concert performance and music education.

My artistic activity revolves around three main pillars that I consider essential for my personal and professional growth: playing in chamber music ensembles, working as an orchestra musician and giving concerts for cello solo. Among my most significant collaborations is my cello/piano duo, which has been a key part of my career for several years and led me to publish my first CD (Rossiniana. Themes, Variations and Fantasias - Dynamic 2020).
Recently, I have embarked on new projects that have allowed me to explore new ensembles, such as the ones with the French horn (horn/cello duo, horn and string quartet), and AM Strings, a non-conventional violin/cello duo that is indeed a lot of fun.
I also contribute to theatrical and musical productions for the Aletheia acting group, where I manage musical research, repertoire adaptation, and live cello performances.

Regarding music education - the other main aspect of my career - I hold a diploma in cello performance, a specialized master’s degree in chamber music, and have completed several training courses with internationally renowned teachers in Italy and abroad.
In 2022 I won the public exam in Italy for teaching cello in national public schools (Scuole Medie a Indirizzo Musicale, Licei Musicali), where I now work as cello professor.

AM Strings

AM Strings

Essentially a "just for fun" project

The AM Strings project was created by me and the violinist Jacopo Cacciamani. Although we both work mainly in the classical field, as AM Strings we transcribe and perform literally anything that comes to our mind. And honestly, that's pretty fun! You can find us on TikTok and YouTube, as well as in live performances.

Chamber ensembles with French horn

Music for horn and strings

Whether in the more essential horn and cello ensemble, or in the larger horn and string quartet group, this new project focuses on the repertoire for horn and string instruments. A musical journey together with Marco Malaigia (horn) and the string quartet members Jacopo Cacciamani, Melissa Cantarini, Francesca Spada. One of our goals is to combine art with solidarity: we put our music at service of important causes by organizing charity concerts in collaboration with local associations.
